Miss Oestreich graduated in 1995 from the historic University of Heidelberg/Mannheim in Germany, and did her surgical training internationally in Germany, Ireland and Singapore, qualifying as a General Surgeon in 2000, and as a Plastic Surgeon in 2006 in Germany.
Kerstin held a permanent NHS consultant post in Plastic, Aesthetic and Hand Surgery since 2007 in the Department of Plastic Surgery, Salisbury Foundation Trust Hospital, where her work included breast and skin pathologies as well as hand/wrist surgery. In 2014, she joined the Department of Plastic Surgery at the prestigious Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Since December 2022, Miss Oestreich works full time in private practice in the West Midlands.
Kerstin has regularly attended international meetings and courses to stay updated with the latest surgical trends. She has several accompanying qualifications within her clinical and managerial roles which include advanced ultrasound, laser, and safety in radiology imaging.
Alongside her surgical training, she has also completed a thesis and was awarded a Medical Doctorate in 1996 (Germany) and a further Master's degree in Healthcare Management in Germany in 2005 (Master of Science Healthcare Management). She received a degree in ‘European Healthcare Leadership’ at the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau/ France. She was granted the award for the ‘Leadership Award Scheme’ by the Health Foundation in London/UK in 2008.
Kerstin is a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and the British Association of Surgery of the hand (BSSH).
She is also an international member of several surgical societies including:

Kerstin qualified for General Surgery in 2000 and her specialist training in Plastic Surgery in 2006 and Hand Surgery in 2007 in Germany. She is on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for General Surgery and Plastic Surgery since 2006. She further qualified in hand surgery in 2007 and had specialist training in wrist surgery in adults and children in 2008. Kerstin is further qualified in ‘Quality Management in Medicine’.
Kerstin received a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes), the most prestigious of its kind. For her achievements in Healthcare Management, she was granted the ‘Healthcare Leadership Award’ by the London Health Foundation in 2008, focussing on leadership of clinicians in all aspects of healthcare and management.
She established international links as a clinician and leader in healthcare being awarded and a fellow of the ‘European Healthcare Leadership Program’ of the prestigious business school INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. She continues to maintain a multi-professional network and has hosted an international conference in Salisbury in 2009.
Kerstin has been very active in her academic role and has published over 40 publications including original papers, bookchapters and review papers. Kerstin has been an invited speaker and faculty member in over 25 international meetings and over 50 presentations on a national and international level.
